Once you've set up your new blogs, create a new blog post on your Media Blog 1 and answer the following questions:


1) Why did you choose A Level Media Studies?
I wanted to understand how different things in film and advertisement work. I am very interested in Media and I think it's very influential today, even if you avoid social media apps and media in general its always present whether it's on buses or posters you see whilst your walking. I really want to know how it works so that I can create my own!. 

2) Did you take GCSE Media Studies (either here at Greenford or a different school)?
I didn't take GCSE Media studies.

3) If you answered yes to Q2, what grade did you achieve in GCSE Media? What coursework task did you complete? What would you say your strengths and weaknesses were in GCSE Media?

4) What grade do you hope to achieve in A Level Media?

5) What are your current thoughts about your next steps after A Levels - university, apprenticeship, work?
I would like to try to go into the film industry or photojournalism or broadcast journalism. 

6) What do you think the biggest MEDIA story of 2026 has been and why?
The Epstein files case

7) What media sources do you use to find out about news and current affairs?
I use YouTube for specific events and information. I use the BBC news app from time to time. I also use the Good news app for good things that happen globally. 

8) What was the last film you watched?
The Guardians of the galaxy

9) What is your favourite ever TV series?
My favourite TV series is 

10) How many hours do you spend online in an average day? Is this too little, too much or about right? Why? (If you have an iPhone you can use Screen Time to get an accurate figure of how much you use your phone).  
It ranges from 3h and 5 mins to 5h and 7mins

  Technical- The camera shot of 50 cent is a close up which draws the audienc e in because 50 cent is a public and recognisable figure. This also added emphasis on what the brand is trying to sell as 50 cents reputation and persona would help sell the products. The use of low key lighting is used to  cover different parts of 50 cents face which highlights his high cheekbones and  intense star with the furrow in his brows. The use of low key ligh t and chiaroscuro make the scene more dramatic.   1) What are the preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings for the RBK 50 Cent advert? The preferred reading of the 50 cent advert, is to advertise the brand and elevate the image/status of the  brand name. To present the brand's produce as diverse, inclusive and more trendy with the aesthetics of hood culture and street wear. The negotiated reading of this advert is that the products allow self expression and freedom to be who you are, conveyed by the written codes " i am what i am" and that by wearing the clothes and shoes of the Reebok brand you are a part of this narrative. The oppositional reading of this advert is that the brand could be rebranding who the produce is ideally meant for and what it stands for. By using 50 cent and having fingerprints in the background of his speech in quote the brand can be associated with hood culture and crime. Part 3:  "English" By Tarun Thind 1) The audience is encouraged to stereotype the two main characters in the opening of the film, based off things like their body language, movements, clothes and speech. For example their swagger gait, which is common for men in lower classes or their lack of speech which is an important part of the meaning behind the film. It is implied through the dialogue and lack of speech from the main characters that they may not know how to speak or one of them is has a hearing disorder/disability which is expressed through the later use of sign language from the protagonists. The audience is mislead by the opening of the film as they are made to believe that the protagonists are intentionally causing inconveniences to those around them, this is  first suggested by the opening scene where one of the boys is playing the harmonica in the park much to a homeless mans dismay.
